Community Involvement

Kraft Cares: Fighting Hunger and Promoting Healthy Lifestyles, One Community at a Time

In 1903, Kraft was part of a single community. That was Chicago, and J.L. Kraft had just started his own business - selling cheese to local grocers from his horse-drawn wagon. Today, we are part of hundreds of communities around the world, and we're making a difference, one community at a time.

Health and Wellness Initiatives and Being There when Disaster Strikes

Through our worldwide Kraft Cares charitable giving program, we support organizations that promote health and wellness in the communities where we live and do business. We focus on fighting hunger, encouraging healthy lifestyles among children and supporting local community projects. And when disaster strikes, we also send food, donate money and volunteer our time to help those who need it the most.

Each year, we give more than $80 million in food and financial donations.

Kraft Employees Making a Difference in their Own Communities

Our employees are making a difference in their communities, too. Kraft Cares supports and encourages volunteerism to deliver results close to home. An employee-giving program in the United States, managed by Kraft volunteers, an annual "Day of Caring" in Canada supported by more than 400 employees and a feeding program in the Philippines for malnourished school children. Our employees generously lend a hand whenever and wherever it is needed.

A Global Commitment Delivering Local Results

Kraft donates to hundreds of organizations around the world. Here are just a few examples of our efforts and our results:

  • Since 1997, we have supported the Kraft Community Nutrition program in the United States. By partnering with America's Second Harvest, we help get nutritious foods, like fresh fruits and vegetables, to hungry people. Over the past decade, that adds up to more than one billion servings of food.
  • Throughout Europe, we help fight childhood obesity through the Shape Up program that promotes healthy eating and physical activity for kids.
  • For more than a decade, we have worked with Salus Associacao para a Saude in Brazil to help malnourished children.  The Overcoming Malnutrition program reaches children ages seven to 12 and their families in low income areas that have high rates of both malnutrition and obesity.
